Ignite talk

1. My big question is: what are the benefits of living a plant based lifestyle, what are the effects of being a meateater.

2. During the break i got to see real life buffalo they are huge herbavores, they can be 6'5", weigh up to 2000 pounds & can run up to 40 miles an hour , these animals disprove the misconception that you need to eat meat, to grow big, its not the amount of the protien its the quality.

3. The conection i see is that of fahrenheit 451 how montag questions the norm of conformative thinking, & how many people are asleep to an unfortunate truth.

4. Next i plan on trying to go vegan for atleast a week.

MY MODERNISM STORY

Matteo was a vagabond, on a search for purpose & fulfillment.

He was bound to the land his mother had brought him to, in the days of his infancy, a land diverse in vitality, the mountains humm, an echo of the past.
     He was happy, & alone.

Ahead was the path he had lost about an hour ago, he journeyed north twords home to meet his brother, who was most likely strumming away at his o'l guitar, the two had been living off the land for quite some time but with winter on its way, it would soon be time to venture on to the Big Island to seek out and old friend.

The two Brothers Matteo & Angelo were Nomads, underneath the stars was home to them, together they had traveled all across the United States, & ended up in Hawaii.

There were people up ahead, Matteo gripped his staff tightly & walked forward, the sun beat on his brow he was a free spirit & would always walk bare food, the soles of his feet were thick like leather he had lost all feeling in his feet due to an encounter with a deadly jellyfish.

He noticed it was a young woman & her older sibling they seemed to be in a rush, as they came closer he noticed the look of terror in their eyes, they stopped, exasperated they urge him to to hedge back not to go any further,
"You Cant go here you have to turn back man!"
"Why not! My older brother is down this road i have to get their"
"Theres no point! The island is erupting!"

The volcano began to spew out a horrendous cluster of grey smoke it furlled up into the sky & rolled down the side of the mountain. It was miles away but the pyroclastic Flow draws closer & closer, it was a dense, destructive mass of scolding ash, lava fragments & gassses ejected explosively, rapidly flowing downslope.
  1. .
"See that smoke its 800° come in contact with it, & your fried man!
its coming right twords us!!!

There was no time to lose,
"Thats my brother MAN!
He began to sprint, the house was up the hill,  the deathly smoke silently screaming for his demise. he was terrified of what might happen to his older brother. As he approached the horizon, a familiar engine began to spudder.

 He thought of his mother.
It was as if time stood still, nothing seemed real, he thought he was trapped in dream, far above reality, this was to be it, all his life would be summed up to br, a glimpse of the relentless beauty than. Death.

READING QUESTIONS

1. I think that montag enjoyed buring the books because its fun watching things burn another thing is that montag stated it would be illegal to read them.

2. The books are compaired to birds because the fleating ashs of the chard books are like birds flying away, it could also represent what has happend to the many birds species that have died off in the future due to pollution

3. Montag is verry conformative & boaring & clarisse is curious, questions everything & is unconventional, shes close to her family which isnt normal in this wold, theyre like dynamic opposites.

4. The technology is similar to todays we have ear buds & flatscreens, despite all the things they have mildrid still attempted suicide

5. We meet Montag at this point in his life so we can be suspended in the story, & stuck to the situation.

6. Clairessa plays a  more important role in the book than mildred

7. The houses are firepoof

8.Mildred requied medical service because she attempted  suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. She recived a blood clensing & a stomach pumping from mobile medical machines.

 9. The mechanical hound has been made into a watchdog of society. It has been programmed to avenge and punish citizens who break society's rules.

9.society considers clairsse anti-social
because because of her odd habits, which include hiking, playing with flowers, and asking questions

11.when the womans house is raided she lights a match

12. Montag & mildreds relationship wasnt the best because mildred seemed to have no intrest in understanding montag.

WHAT I SEE IN LITERATURE

And indeed there will be time
To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?"
Time to turn back and descend the stair,

Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse

And i have seen the eternal footman hold my coat & snicker

"In this sense, then, the valley of ashes is a place covered in heaps of ash It is, literally and figuratively, a dumping ground. Those who live close to or around this valley are people who have lost their dreams. They live ordinary, mundane and anxious

All of these segments are from "Love Song of Alfred Purufrock" by T.s Elliott and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald the last paragraph is from The Great Gatsby i chose these examples to suport the theme which i believe is demonstrated in the words "people whp have lost their dreams"

LOVE SONG (First Impression)

My first impression of the poem "Love Song Of Alfred  Purufrock" written by T.S Elliott was that it was brilliantly written, its starts out with a certain suspension of disbelief, wich leaves the reader questioning & intruiged, its rhyme & meter is genius & im really gratefull to have a teacher who exposes us to this type of literature even tho its advance its not that complicated, to understand the tone is rather somber the main character is timid &  is not self determined, he also hasnt acomplished much in his life. Alfred realizes his life is coming to an end & his best days are behind him & qustions how he should go on. Leaving readers to contemplate their own mortality.

Life Finds a Way

On 2/16/17, I participated in a public demonstration in which those who are immigrants or immigrant decent weren't supposed to attend school or go to work I chose to skip school to show that I'm proud of my heritage & always will be. we  are all immigrants including those who share prejudice against us..

In the words of Jeff Goldblum in the original Jurassic Park movie "If the history of evolution has taught us anything its that: Life will not be contained, life breaks free it expands to new territories, crashes through barriers, painfully maybe even dangerously."

"life finds a way "

To quote: Neil Degrassy Tyson
"life journeys to the deepest crevice of the universe"

We are supposed to be here we were given this earth to share, to care for it, & as humans we have the right to defend our rights. We need to stand up before its to late, It would astound me to see a nation wide strike, but one day it may be necessary, I'm curious if that would even help much, what we really need is informed people who care. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote

"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk"

let us challenging the way things are & broaden our awareness of the truth, we must be vigilant citizens just as vigilant as this country of surveillance is, we must continue to be seekers of truth. WE ARE THE  PEOPLE... WE ARE POWER.

Comment to post

I don't think anyone is inherently good or bad by nature, but in the right conditions ether side could flourish. Given the fact that we know so little about Gatsby and that much of his life is shrouded in mystery, I can not say for sure whether he is good or bad nor do I think it is my place to do so. However I do believe the author F. Scott Fitzgerald would say Gatsby is good and only just a little confused &.... rather lonely. keeping that in mind as well as the title of the book itself "the Great Gatsby" I think we can safely assume that yes Gatsby is not only good but he is great, worthy of admiration.

Chp. 1 remix

      Image result for great gatsby
their are many things we learnt in chapter one of F. Scott Fitzgerald's book the Great Gatsby, although we know nothing about the great Gatsby & what makes him great  but we do know the narrator, nick who has come home from the great war, only to find it doesn't really feel like home anymore, Nick moves out to a neighborhood know as the east egg, where his dilapidated house is surrounded by mansions, his neighbor is, the Great Gatsby. On his first day there he goes to go eat dinner with a distant relative, whom he barley knows, upon arrival we find that there's a lot more to them than what is stated in the book, subtle inclinations are implied though the dialog , which makes the book a lot more realistic, we get to form our own opinions about the characters as we view them through Nicks stream of consciousness, this book is brilliantly written & wasn't written just for the sake of writing it was written to be a great story & that's all it is, simply a masterpiece celebrated in the literary community, it has even been remixed in a movie that I have yet to see, but nonetheless I look forward to see how the plot unravels & I'm excited to finally meet the Great Gatsby!

A CROW THAT I KNOW.

I looked out the window the other day
& noticed a bird, perched on the roof.
I imagined it was me
I knew it was me
me, but in a different form
I was flapping my feathers
trying to dry them,
it was raining,
but still the weather was ideal
the winds carried my wings I felt free
free to be me.
I was looking for a tree
one that was just for me
one free of other birds
I wanted to be alone,
left to hear my own words
maybe id find a worm to eat,
id swoop down & catch it with my feet.
theirs a little crunch to it,
so I swallow the poor thing whole
 my kind of funeral.
I really needed a snack
to fuel the restless wings on my back
it seems us birds have a knack
for surviving on just about anything.
tonight id try to shut my eyes
hold on tight
and hope for a new day.

RESPECT THE LIVING.

There are those who believe that humans have dominion over all, that we've personally inherited this world. we must take into account the delicate balance between the habitat & its inhabitants. we have grown greedy,  stabbing Mother nature gaining from her pain, leaching from her veins, we've tainted her streams with pollution & gouged her land to create massive cities & factories & slaughterhouses that abuse, torture & murder innocent sentient beings just to feed our bottomless bellies. what has happened to our humanity? We have been deceived, we were taught for the very start to be selfish, they take away our unity, our empathy & therefore our power. They force us to spend our life energy on menial goals, they have hacked the minds of the common man by manipulating the pleasure & reward system in our heads. The thing is we really arn't making any kind of considerable difference were too caught up feeding our own desires, when we learn to care about the prosperity of others we regain our humanity & learn the feeling that coincides with generosity, love. this love is true & there's no greater feeling than knowing you helped somebody who didn't have the means or opportunity to help themselves. If we can simply uplift our fellow human one by one than, in just one day we can change the world...
